Did OnMerge just STOP WORKING recently? Beginning Tuesday October 17, Microsoft started pushing out Word updates with a bug that makes Word freeze on startup while showing that it's loading OnMerge, eventually causing Word to disable OnMerge. This now happens with OnMerge and many other add-ins. Microsoft say this is a critical bug they will be fixing "very soon," but their pre-release testing is lengthy. In the meanwhile we updated OnMerge on October 24 to work around the issue.
To get our update that fixes that problem and install it: 1) Uninstall the existing OnMerge using the Windows Control Panel. 2) Use the download link and registration key in your original email from us to download the new version. 3) Install the new version. Existing OnMerge layouts in Word documents are safe.
Existing OnMerge not working after Windows upgrade? OnMerge works great with Windows 10, but our friends at Microsoft played a trick on us: the Windows upgrade process deactivates existing OnMerge installations. This causes an activation pop-up or a pink box when you start Word.
To reactivate your existing OnMerge just uninstall OnMerge using Windows Control Panel's Program and Features icon (your existing OnMerge layouts are safe), then reinstall using the download and activation key you received in your original OnMerge confirmation e-mail. This only needs to be done once.
